  • The Health Benefits of Kiwifruit
Kiwifruit has the highest density of nutrients of the major 26 fruits currently consumed world-wide. Unlike most fruit which are high in only one or two nutrients, Kiwifruit have an unusually broad range of nutrients and other vitamins and minerals. The US Food and Drug Administration classify Kiwifruit as an excellent source of vitamin C and dietary fibre, and a good source of vitamin E and potassium.

    The Beneficial Components of Kiwifuit

Depression Inositol can be beneficial in the treatment of depression.

Diabetes Inositol (a sugar alcohol) may provide a positive role in diabetes regulation.

Eye health Kiwifruit is especially rich in in a phytochemical subcomponent lutein which is known to accumulate in the retina. Lutein is linked to the prevention of macula degeneration, which affects fourteen million American adults.

Heart health Kiwifruit contains antioxidants including vitamins C and E, caroteniods and phenolic compounds. Kiwifruit is ranked as having the fourth highest natural antioxidant potential. This combination of antioxidants may help prevent the oxidation of the HDL cholesterol.

Kiwifruit is particularly high in the amino acid arginine which may help promote an increase in arteriolar dilation, improving blood flow.
The high levels of vitamin E are crucial for a healthy heart.

Physical exercise The wide range of nutrients and especially minerals in Kiwifruit provide electrolyte replenishment during long workouts.
